An exploration of emergence
Swarm Lab.
Complex behavior.
Three simple rules.
Inside the experiment
No leader requiredA little awareness.
A lot of possibility.
Each agent only reacts to its neighbors. There is no plan for the whole flock, and no agent in charge. The patterns you see emerge from three small decisions, repeated together.
Make room.
Steer away from neighbors that get too close. More separation gives each agent a wider berth.
Find a rhythm.
Match the direction of nearby agents. More alignment turns scattered movement into a shared flow.
Stay connected.
Move toward the center of the local group. More cohesion draws wandering agents back together.
