A surface that remembers

Material Memory.

Every action
leaves a trace.

A ceramic-like surface you can pull, fracture, and repair. Sample pull and Sample fracture buttons provide keyboard alternatives. Repair all reconnects the fragments.
Click the surface and drag slowly. Pull further to find its breaking point. The small green marks are fixed anchors.

Inside the material

Structure / rupture / repair

Nothing returns
quite the same.

This surface is a network of small fragments. Connections carry tension until they break. Repair joins the fragments where they are now, rather than pretending the fracture never happened.

01 / Pull

Create tension.

Four fixed anchors hold the sheet. Pull a local area and the connected structure shares the strain. Beyond its strength, it gives way.

02 / Fracture

Change the structure.

A crack releases connections. Separated fragments can move independently; they remain on the workbench until you reconnect them.

03 / Repair

Keep the memory.

Gold seams restore connections at their current positions. The changed geometry and repair history become part of the specimen.

An expressive 2D material study built from a breakable constraint mesh. It explores connection and change, rather than predicting the behavior of real ceramics.
